New Member Intake 2009

So you LOVE to SING!!

Congratulations on taking the first step!

Come along to our Orientation evening on Tuesday 12th May at 7:30pm and learn about who we are, what we do, what we have achieved and just what you can expect to experience by joining our free Six Week Vocal/Performance Skills course!

Of course, we LOVE to SING but we also love to share what we have learned and achieved over the last thirteen years, since we formed. Hence this invitation to you!

Orientation Evening

This evening will introduce you to the seventy six members of our chorus representing women of all ages, cultures and backgrounds. You will be happily welcomed at the door and we'll ask for a few details at that time. Our friendly members will be there to assist you in every way.

During the course of the evening, we will ask you to join us in some physical warm ups. Don't be put off by the expression, it's always lots of fun! We'll also invite to join us while we do some vocal warm ups and exercises.

After we have warmed our voices, the chorus will have the pleasure of singing a selection of songs from our repertoire for you. You will be given detailed information about what to expect during the six week course from our Musical Director, Lea Baker.

Once the chorus has sung and you have all the information you need to get started, join us in having a cuppa and a chat. We will only be too happy to answer any questions you may have.

So come along! You have so much to gain and nothing to lose.

If you have only ever sung in the shower, now is the time to rip that curtain down! If you only sing in the car or at church or have sung on the "stage", we welcome you all!

Surprise yourself at how you too can grow and develop beyond your expectations!

Vocal and Performance Skills Course

Very briefly, the course will teach you about using correct vocal skills and production, breath support, posture, how to resonate your voice, performance skills and much more in a fun and informative way. This will give you the basic skills to get your started. Each week you will do vocal vocal exercises and skill building with the rest of the chorus.

We are also conducting a beginners level "Introduction to music reading" course during this 6 week program.

First week of the course

The Tuesday night after orientation (19 May) you'll be voice placed, meaning we will ascertain which part, according to your vocal range, you are most suited to sing. This is done in private.

Once you have been allocated a part (tenor, lead, baritone or bass), you will receive a pack containing the music, word sheet, learning CD for two great songs, which you learn at the same time as the rest of the chorus. We will work through the learning process together each week and this should see us through to the end of the six week course.

And after that...

There will be an opportunity for you to join our group by a simple audition process (no solo singing is required). You will be required to attend all of the 6 week course if you wish to audition. This will give you the best possible start and allow you to practise with the rest of the chorus and ask for help if you need it.
